| The goal
of these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) is to provide you with answers
about our campus lifestyle. There are three (3) sections: Applicable to All Private Homes Apartment Homes APPLICABLE TO ALL How many residents do you have? We currently have 203 residents. Who is the owner of this establishment? Our owner is the Board of Trustees of the United Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee, a 501-C3 not-for-profit corporation. Do you have an entrance (membership) fee? Not at this time. What is the monthly service fee? The monthly service fee varies, depending on the level of care needed and the type/size of the selected accommodations. How often, and by how much, are monthly service fees adjusted? We adjust fees annually. At which time, every effort is made to keep our adjustment in line with the Consumer Product Index (CPI) rate. What was the amount of the last Monthly Service Fee adjustment? 4.2% What is the charge for two people to live in a home? This also varies by the level of care needed and the home selected. May I sublease my home? No May I have guests stay in my home? Guests may stay in your patio home or in your independent living apartment home. Are young children allowed to visit? Yes, children are always welcomed at Methodist Manor. Do you have guest rooms? Yes, we have one guest room. May I have a pet in my home? Pets are only allowed in our patio homes. Are deposits refundable? Your Independent Living deposit is 100% refundable, if there is no damage to the apartment. 50% of your Assisted Living or Special Care Unit deposit is refundable. What emergency systems are in the home? Safety is of the utmost concern in our community. Asbury Village Patio Homes, independent living apartments, Wesleyan Suites assisted living suites, and Magnolia Terrace special care units are equipped with smoke detectors and an emergency response system. Are personnel on duty at night? Yes, personnel are on duty 24 hours a day. Who pays for utilities? Utilities are included in your Monthly Service Fee for all areas except patio homes. Patio home residents have two plans to choose fromone includes utilities, the other does not; so, you can choose which plan works best for you. Is smoking permitted? Smoking is not permitted in the main building. What do I do in case of a fire? If the fire is not in your immediate vicinity, proceed to the nearest exit. If the fire is near your apartment, remain in your apartment until help arrives. What transportation services are provided? Scheduled transportation is provided for shopping, banking, doctors appointments, and special activities. What social events and activities are available? It varies by the level of care needed, but we do offer numerous events and activities for all levels. What Internet services are available? None are currently available. Do you have a workshop? No Do you have laundry and dry cleaning services? Yes Do you have housekeeping service? Yes What kind of parking is available? Our patio homes have their own garages. For other areas, no covered parking is available at this time; however, we do have designated resident parking. Is there an age limit for this community? Yes, 62 years of age. Do you have cable TV? Yes, cable TV is available at the residents expense. What is the dining program? For residents in our patio homes, dining depends on the meal plan you select. One plan includes one meal per day; the other plan, no meals. One meal per day is included in Independent Living, and three meals per day in Assisted Living, Special Care, and our Health Care Center. May I bring guests to the dining room? Yes, guests are always welcomed in the dining room. What if I do not use all of my monthly meals? You can receive a rain check if you miss a meal, but it must be used within four days. If you are away 30 consecutive days, you can receive a discount based on the current published schedule of fees. May I purchase additional meals? Yes How are the meals served in the dining room? Meals are served at your table. Is meal service in my home offered? If you become ill, you can receive meal service up to three days without charge. If you have a doctors order, meal service can be provided for a longer term. If I am away for a long period of time, do I get a food credit? Yes, if you are away 30 consecutive days, you can receive a discount based on the current published schedule of fees. Is the clubhouse dining room open to the public? No. We do not have a clubhouse dining room, per se. We do have a dining room in our Independent Living area, which is open only to our residents and their guests. Do you cater to special diets? Yes, absolutely. Helping maintain our residents dietary health is a priority at Methodist Manor. Is there assigned seating in the dining rooms? No, seating is first come, first served. Does the campus have lounge areas? Yes, we have several sitting/lounge areas. Are there recreation and exercise rooms available? Yes Do you have a beauty salon or barbershop? Yes, we have two. Is there a swimming pool? No If I become ill, what happens? That really depends on the type of illness. If your illness is temporary and your condition warrants it, you can be moved to a more appropriate level of care, such as respite care, until you are able to return to your home or apartment. If your condition is permanent, then we would help you make a permanent transfer to the level of care needed. What healthcare is available? Healthcare is available in our Assisted Living, Special Care Unit, and Health Care Center. How does the healthcare integrate into the campus? Our Assisted Living, Special Care Unit, and Health Care Center are all separate frombut adjoineach other. How is the healthcare staffed? Our healthcare areas are staffed by RNs, LPNs, and Certified Nursing Assistants. Do you allow wheelchairs? Yes Do you have nursing home services? Yes, we offer these services. Does the healthcare unit accept Medicaid and/or Medicare? No, not at this time. What is assisted living? Our Assisted Living area provides assistance with activities of daily living (i.e., bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication supervision). Do you have a Residence Assistance Fund? Yes Am I ready for this type of community yet? This isnt a decision we can make for you, but we can show you all the reasons why it could be just the solution you have been looking for. APPLICABLE TO PRIVATE HOMES May I customize my home? Yes What types of equity plans do you have? We do not offer any at this time. Is a golf cart provided at my home? Golf carts are not provided, but they are allowed. What landscaping is provided with the home? Expert landscaping is provided including sod, shrubbery, as well as an assortment of trees and plantings. May I customize the landscaping of my home? No May I have a garden? Gardens are allowed in the flower bed in your backyard. Do I have a choice of custom colors for the exterior of my home? No APPLICABLE TO APARTMENT HOMES What is required to live in an apartment home? You must be able to live independently and, upon move-in, pay a security deposit equal to one months service fee. What is the term of the occupancy and membership agreement? The agreement runs month to month. Is there an endowment required to rent an apartment home? No How much may I customize my apartment? Any customization must be approved by the executive director. In addition, an agreement is obtained from the resident stating that, if necessary, when the apartment is vacated, the resident agrees to return the apartment to its original condition at their expense. Will covered parking be provided? No When do I have to move in after signing an occupancy agreement? You must move in within 30 days of signing our Residency Agreement. What happens to my payment for an occupancy and membership agreement if I change my mind? After your Reservation Deposit is received, we will refund your deposit only for medical reasons. What size apartments are available? We offer efficiency, studio, and one- and two-bedroom apartments. Are the apartments quiet? All efforts are made to keep apartment residences as quiet as possible. What is done in the event of a noisy disturbance by a neighbor? If that should ever happen, notify our executive director. Doing so will enable the problem to be handled satisfactorily and promptly. Are there kitchens in the apartments so that residents can cook if they so choose? Yes Do you have storage areas for the residents? Yes Are waterbeds permitted? Yes When I am out late, how will I get in? Will I get a key? Yes Do your two-bedroom apartments have two baths? Yes, they have two bathroomsone with a bathtub and one with a shower. Are the apartments furnished? No Are there individual heating and air conditioning controls in each unit? Yes |
